Zapopan, Jalisco, March 11.- US’ Desirae Krawczyk and Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos are on the verge of glory at the WTA 250 Abierto Zapopan 2021, as they got to the title match after beating the pairing of spaniard Aliona Bolsova and Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic 6-2, 2-0 Ret. in 47 minutes.

In the second round’s match on Court 1, started with a good level of tennis, through long rallies from the back of the court. Nevertheless the first semifinal of the doubles in the Zapopan tournament did not end in an ideal way, as Kovinic had to retire due to injury.

The European player presented physical discomfort at the end of the fifth game of the first set, when the score was 2-3, and even asked for the assistance of the trainer. After the break, she returned to action, but Olmos and Krawczyk won the set 6-2 after breaking their opponents’ service a couple of times.

Under the expectation of the audience, the local player and her American partner took a 2-0 lead in the second set after breaking Bolsova and holding their serve. It was after that couple of games when Kovinic’s discomfort got worse, so she told the chair umpire that she could not go on.

After making it out of the Semifinal round, the 2021 Zapopan Open might mean the third title for the Krawczyk (USA) / Olmos (MEX) pairing at the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) tour level, after they conquered Nottingham and Acapulco in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
