Zapopan, Jal., March 11.- Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto sealed her place in the semifinals of the WTA 250 Abierto Zapopan tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lauren Davis of the United States.
The actions took place at the Main Stadium of the Pan American Tennis Center, where Cocciaretto started a little inconsistent, making unforced errors but quickly overcame them to take a 6-3 lead.
The second set was completely in favor of the European, who broke all the services of the American, former world’s number 26, to take the set 6-0 and the duel by a lapidary 6-3 and 6-0.
The barely 20 years old player and current number 134 of the world ranking knew how to handle the match despite her youth, she seemed very comfortable on the court and very loose in her game; while the American—currently ranked 83 of the world—was seen unfocused throughout the match, she gave up her serve five times and the match in one hour and 11 minutes.
Elisabetta Cocciaretto (ITA) defeated Lauren Davis (USA) 6-3, 6-0.
